3.1.3. Add PDF Password

 

 

To add a PDF password to your PDF document in Adobe Acrobat (based on Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0):

 

1. Open your PDF document in Adobe Acrobat.

 

2. Choose File > Document Properties.

 

3. Select the Security tab. From the drop-down list of Security Method, select Password Security.

 

4. You will be prompted with the Password Security - Settings dialog box.

a. From drop-down list of Compatibility, select Acrobat 5.0 and later.

b. Select the Require a password to open a document check box.

c. Enter your password at the Document Open Password field.

d. Click the OK button. You will be prompted again to confirm the password. Enter the same password as in step c.

e. Click the OK button to confirm.

 

5. Make sure Password Security is selected at Security Method (refer to figure below). Click the OK button to confirm.

 

 

 

6. Choose File > Save to save your PDF document.

 

 

 Adding password to PDF documents is highly advisable, as PDF documents will be downloaded to the user machine together with FlipBook for FlipViewer. Adding password to PDF documents will prevent users from directly opening them in Adobe Acrobat and stealing important materials from PDF documents.
