Although the current version of Mac FlipAlbum does not have an in-built
capability to upload albums to the internet, it is possible to share
your Mac FlipAlbums on the internet with your family and friends using
some basic third-party shareware applications available on the internet.
Besides
Mac FlipAlbum, there are 2 types of third-party applications you will
need to help
you complete the following instructions, namely,
an application that creates a ZIP file and a FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
application. 2 possible shareware applications are "ZipIt" for
zipping the files, and "FTPThingy" for transferring your data
up to the internet. Please do note that these are third-party applications
and you would have to undertake all responsibilities for their usage.
1. Create your album
First, you need to create an album using Mac FlipAlbum Suite or Pro.
Once you are satisfied with your album, choose to create an Album CD
by selecting CD Maker -> Create Album CD menu. Follow the steps
to create an Album CD just as if you were going to burn your album
to a CD. At the last step when you are prompted to click on "Burn" to
burn the CD, select "Use other CD burning software". This
will change the "Burn" icon to "OK". Before you
click on "OK", take notice of where your Album CD files have
been stored. This information is stated on the current window. Once
you know where your Album CD files are stored, hit "OK" and
the window will close. You may now exit Mac FlipAlbum.
2. Zip your album
Go to your Album CD folder containing the following exported files
that you have just created:
MacCDViewer
FlipAlbumCD folder
Autorun.inf
startCD.exe
Keep the window showing your Album CD folder open, and double-click
on your ZipIt application folder which should be in your download folder.
Drag your Album CD folder onto the icon that says "Drag files
here to zip". This will automatically open up the ZipIt application.
When prompted to register, you may either choose to click "Not
yet" or register for $20 which will unlock the entire application.
Either option will zip your Album CD folder and create a "name
of your folder.zip" file in the ZipIt folder.
3. Upload your album
Now launch
FTPThingy, and fill out your website FTP information. This includes
the name of
the site you are uploading to, directory on that
web server, username, and password. If you do not have these FTP information,
please refer to your web master. Once you have entered the correct data
and hit Enter, FTPThingy will open up your website. Then all you have
to do is to click on the "Upload" button, choose the ZIP file
you have just created, and hit Enter. This will pop a copy of your ZIP
file on your website.
4. Access your online album
Finally, send the link to the uploaded ZIP file to your family and
friends, and they should be able to type the link into a web browser
and download your album automatically. For example, if you were to
put the ZIP file in your main web directory, you should be able to
enter: http://mywebsitename.com/myzipfile.zip on your web browser and
automatically download your album. To view album, Mac users simply
double-click on the MacCDViewer application, while PC users double-click
on the startCD.exe file.
